Launch of Haagse Huiskamer: Platform for a Resilient City
On September 4th, the Haagse Huiskamer creative platform was officially launched with an event focusing on the ‘Economic Participation of Newcomers in The Hague’.
How do we utilise, support and develop the talents of refugees? Which sectors offer opportunities? How do we ensure sustainable participation in the labour market? And how can we maintain and scale up successful initiatives in this area?
These are the questions we seek to answer through the Haagse Huiskamer creative platform, which provides a space for initiatives, policy makers, and refugees to collaborate to better the reception and integration of refugees in The Hague.
Over 100 people attended the launch, where we listened to 10 speakers about their promising initiatives and ideas. During the evening, there were contributions from: Sevilay Atesever (Dutch Tulip), Karlijn van Arkel (Migrant Inc.), Annemiek Haneveld (PEP), Saba Haile, Paul Driest, Evert Drewes and Jamal Chifri (Movisie), Radboud French (Refugees Southwest Netherlands), and Jorim Tielbeek (National Think Tank).
For more information and upcoming events, go to: www.haagsehuiskamer.nl/.
The report of the evening, the results, and video will soon be published.
