Photo Exhibition of Human Rights Defenders
Official opening by Mayor Annemarie Penn-te Strake on 17 November from 16:00 to 18:00
Avenue Céramique 50, 6221 KV Maastricht
Photographer: Daniella van Bergen
"These fierce and powerful people have touched my heart”. Look through the eyes of photographer Daniella van Bergen and learn about the exceptional people who stand up against violations of rights and freedoms from around the world. Because of their work, human rights defenders are often subject to harassment and threats. Through the Shelter City programme, human rights defenders can temporarily relocate to Maastricht and nine other Dutch Shelter Cities for up to three months, where they can re-energise, gain new knowledge, and access opportunities to expand their network.
The photo exhibition will be open from November 17th, 2017 to January 7th, 2018.
